Insert picture In Line with Text using Picture Tools
There are five ways to put an image in line with the text. The first method uses the Format tab under Picture Tools in the ribbon.
Select Wrap Text under Format in the ribbon
Follow these steps below to insert a picture in line with the text in Word:
- Click once on the image
- Go to Picture Tools > Format
- Click on Wrap text
- Choose > In Line with Text
Select Position under Format tab in the ribbon
You could also use the Format tab under Picture Tools in the ribbon in another way. Follow these steps to put pictures in line with text in Microsoft Word:
- Click on the image
- Go to Picture Tools > Format
- Click on Position
- Click on the picture below In Line with Text
Use the Layout Options icon to put a picture In Line with Text
The third method is to use the blue Layout Options icon:
- Click once on the image to view an icon
- On the right of the image > Click on the blue Layout Options icon
- Click on the picture under In Line with Text
Right-click on the image to choose In Line with Text
Or you could also right-click on the image to change its text wrapping style:
- Right-click on the image
- Choose > Wrap Text
- Then select > In Line with Text

The last option is to open the Layout dialog box. Look for the yellow highlighted text as shown in the above pictures. Click on More Layout Options to open the Layout dialog box. Then in the Layout dialog box, follow the steps below:
- Click on the Text Wrapping tab at the top
- Under Wrapping style > Click on the first picture In Line with Text
- Lastly, click > OK
