Method 1: How to insert Emoji in Word document
You can add an emoji into your electronic document without installing anything in Microsoft Office. The fastest way to insert an emoji is to type symbols that will convert to an emoji. Unfortunately, this is only available for a few emojis in Word, as Microsoft has stated. You can also insert an emoji in PowerPoint using these shortcuts.
Remember that you have to type these symbols to get an emoji in your document. It will not work if you copy the symbols and paste them into your Word document.
Method 2: Open Emoji Picker
If you have Windows 10, then you can open the Emoji Picker in PowerPoint. You can also open it in Word or OneNote in two ways:

How to insert an emoji in Word

- Open the Emoji Picker in your document.
- Type what you are looking for, e.g., flower.
- If you want to insert the first emoji flower, then press ENTER on your keyboard.
- Or use the scroll down and up with your mouse and click on the Emoji to insert it.
- Or use the arrow keys on your keyboard and click on the Emoji to insert it.

Method 3: Install Emoji Keyboard in Word or PowerPoint
If you can’t see the Emoji icon in your ribbon, it means that you have not installed it from the Office Store. Don’t worry, because it is doable in a few steps. First, go to Insert at the top of your Word document > Then click on Get Add-ins.
A new box called Office Add-ins opens op.
- You have to be in the STORE section.
- Then type emoji in the search section and click on the magnifier or press ENTER on your keyboard.
- Now the Emoji Keyboard appears on your suggestions > Click on Add.
A new box opens in the middle, where you have to click on Continue. Now you have successfully installed the Emoji Keyboard. You will see the icon Emoji Keyboard in your ribbon under Insert.
How to insert an emoji using Emoji Keyboard
Once you install the Emoji Keyboard in Microsoft Word, you can find it under the Insert tab at the top of your document. Click on Emoji Keyboard, and a new pane on the right of the document opens.
- There are eight different categories at the top, with over 1300 emoji.
- At the top of the pane, there is also a keyword search bar.
- It also offers different skin tones for more than 80 emoji in the Smiley & People and Activity categories.
- You can insert an emoji as text or in various sizes, ranging from XS to XXL.

Remove Emoji Keyboard
You can always remove the Emoji Keyboard from your ribbon in a few steps.
- Right-click on the Emoji icon in your ribbon.
- Now select Remove Add-in.
Then the Remove Add-in warning box appears on your document, where you have to click on Yes. It automatically removes the add-in from your device.
Method 4: Open the Windows touch keyboard
If you have Windows 10, 8.1/8, then you can use the built-in tool called touch keyboard. You can open it to insert an emoji in a Word document.
Right-click on the Windows taskbar > Tick on Show touch keyboard button.
Now, you can see the touch keyboard icon on the taskbar. Select the touch keyboard icon on the taskbar to open it.
If you are in your Word document, you can open the touch keyboard. Then select the emoji icon on the touch keyboard. You can simply close the touch keyboard by clicking on the X in the right top corner.
